Sporting KC Soccer Clinic

It was a miserably hot evening, with the temps over 100 degrees,
but the smile on Maddox's face let me know he was doing just fine.

Sporting KC and McDonalds put on a free soccer clinic in Lawrence last night.
I didn't know about going with the heat, but Maddox wanted the autographs so we went.


Before the clinic started the boys were scrimmaging each other.
Right about game time, the were all tired and ready to rest.
Thank goodness Eryn came at that time with big bottles
of gatorade and water to save the day.

 

They had plenty of breaks and ended the night with a game of "duck duck goose"
this one was done with water balloons. You would drip the water on each
head, but when you were ready to 'race" the kid, you popped it over thier head

They had so much fun. 
After the clinic was over they did some autographs and pictures.

Each kid (and sibling) went home with a free water bottle and kids meal
from McD's.  Can't beat that for a free night out!

Happy Fathers Day

I am very lucky to have some of the best dads in my life.
I sat in church on Sunday listening to what a "good" dad does...
and every dad in my family fit in that category.
God has blessed me with some amazing men, and I'm so glad
that my kiddos are being raised with such amazing role models.

My dad has always been my hero!  I've always been
a proud daddy's girl.  But I was given an extra blessing
this year.  Some would think it's odd I call it a blessing
but that's how I see it.
I got the horrible phone call that my dad was having a
heart attack. As I drove to the hospital not knowing how
he was my thoughts were going crazy.  The thoughts were completely
selfish.  They all went to my kiddos, and how life would be
without him.  Maci adores him... and he adores her. Those two have a
one of a kind relationship, and I hope she always worships him like she does.
What would she do without that perfect role model! 
With Maddox, and how he just thinks Papa is the best at everything.
Who would he look up to to tell about his sports endeavors. He loves
to tell Papa about that big play, or how many points he scored.
And Lincoln... the boy is wild, and can be a mess... but when
he's got me stressed out, and I'm at witts end, I can look at my dad, and
that slight smile he gives me, lets me know that my boy will be okay. 
or more importantly... that I will be okay.
As I got to the hospital and saw him in that bed, the smile on his face
and the joke that came out of his mouth, I knew he was okay.
And I knew that I was blessed with more time with him.
My dads my hero and I hope he knows how much he is adored!

My father in law is a pretty amazing dad too. 
In church they were talking about how as adults we show our kids how to treat
their spouse. We are their first role models.  I can honestly say that my husband is
the man he is because of the family he was raised in.  I have a husband that loves
and adores his family.  I'm so thankful he grew up in a home where family
was so important.  I live next to my in-laws, and when I tell people that they
always give me a sympathetic look.  I soon let them know that I have the best
neighbors in the world.  Thanks Alan for raising Eric to be the man he is.

I have also go to experience the joy of nieces and nephews.  I love watching my
brother and brother in law parent. I've learned a lot from them.

You can't go to LA with out seeing what Rodeo Drive is all about...

and my favorite place on Rodeo Drive is Sprinkles Cupcakes.

We went by the first day in town and there had to of been 80 people standing outside in line waiting to get a cupcake. Luckily when we went by the next morning there was only a few people.

It was definetly worth the 2nd trip.

They all looked so yummy, but we ended up with 2- chocolate marshmellow and peanut butter chocolate chip

they were SOOOO good!
