He did it- he finished his first marathon!
He was SOOO excited.
He couldn't wait to get his shirt
and pose for his picture for the wall in school.

He finished by running 2 miles on the first 90 degree day of the year.
He's a pretty awesome little stud!

Here he is with his buddy Parker who finished with him.
What a pair these 2 are.
I couldn't be more proud of my little man!

Maci turns 10!

It's been a hard week. My baby girl turned 10!  How can this be?
I just had her, just finished her perfect nursery.  Just quit working to stay with her!
10 years old??? Really????

If you know Maci you know she is a glamour queen. It's all about high heels and jewelry
for this little one. What was once ruffles and bows is now sparkles and frill!
I knew right away we had to do these cupcakes- what's more perfect then
her first pair of heels!  especially since there's no fight about wearing them to school!
Thank you Kelley for making these for me- they turned out PERFECT!

we went on to open gifts, what a spoiled little one!

then to the cake. This was her favorite, but there's too many candles!

But my favorite part of the day was when I caught her playing her new wii game.
This blanket was her baby blanket, and it's been by her side since.
I loved walking by the room and seeing it still snug in her hands.
One little piece of my baby girl is still in there!

Happy Birthday Maci!
You have made us SO proud!
We love you to pieces!!!

Maci's 10 Birthday Friend Party

We had Maci's party this weekend with her friends.
She just wanted to have some friends over to play.
She found a recipe for a monkey cake about 3 months ago that she held on to
so she made it that morning.

her cute monkey cake

I'm a horrible mom and forgot candle, so we used what we had.
Thanks to her best buddy Julia, her hair stayed out of the cake!

the whole group.  What a wonderful group of sweet girls!

I let Maci pick out an activity to do with her friends and she wanted to paint flower pots and plant flowers.
It was a fun activity that they all loved.

the finished pots

They spent the rest of the time out playing in the beautiful weather.
it ALWAYS rains on her birthday so I was so glad for the perfect weather!

4th Grade Musical

For Maci's 10th birthday her class put on their musical.
It wasn't actually for her birthday, but we like to make her feel extra special.

something about turning 10 has ruined her for taking pictures.
I get the silly face EVERY time I try to take one.

as excited as she was to go and perform, you didn't see many smiles on her face once we got there.

2nd row from the top on the end

she sang, just didn't smile :)

But of course, she was still the best performer there!!

New Home

Well, kind of...
we didn't move, but we painting.
And changing the exterior is about as close to a new home as I'll ever get again.
But, don't get me wrong. I'm perfectly fine with that.
I love my house!

so we went from perfectly greyish/green

to a perfect greyish/brown!

A little accident

I had a slight accident a couple of weeks back.  Took a little stroll on a rainy day, in a super scary way, into the ditch.  Amazingly all that happened was some damage to our beloved 7 year old Civic.
As you can see I damaged the back end pretty good, but there was enough damage on the remainer of the car (almost on every surface) that our insurance totaled it out.
We were shocked since I drove the car home.

so after an insane week of trying to figure out what to do. We purchased a new ride.

Easter

I guess I need to post about Easter before Christmas gets here! We've been busy lately- but I need to get caught up on this blog!!!
We went to our Easter service at church on Saturday night, so our fancy Easter duds were missing this year. We had a great time with the Adams family at church and then went to eat dinner afterwards together.
the kids woke up and were happy to see that the Easter bunny had come. I think they were all
wishing for a 4 wheeler and were a little bummed when that wasn't waiting for them, but it didn't take them long to dig into the candy.
For lunch we had all of our extended family over for some fun. We ate a wonderful lunch and decided to go burn off some of the calories.
We held our 2nd annual easter egg toss. The kids each get to pick an adult to play with and the competition is fierce!
our competitive teams
then we did the spoon/egg race. This is where the competition came out.
we did have a couple of cheaters!
Lincoln used 2 hands... but he is only 4!
and Darrin who used his thumb, and is a little older!
Next we got ready for the Easter Egg Hunt. The kids had
to sit in the stair way while the men hid 120 eggs.
the kids had a 5 acre area they had to search
but it was fun and most of the eggs were found.
Grandpa did find a few left over a week later while he was mowing!
Atleast he got some candy to keep that mowing exciting!!!
And we will never forget what the real celebration is about:
Matthew 28:1-10
After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men. The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: 'He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.' Now I have told you."So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. Suddenly Jesus met them. "Greetings," he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me."
