Play Dates

I'm a people person and I love to have my friends around. I'm so lucky that most of my close friends are home with their kids as well. This summer I've been trying to plan some play dates to keep myself entertained ;)

Earlier this week we had one of my friends from high school over with her 4 kiddos. Maci loved having more girls then boys finally. She begged Lacey to come back the next day she had so much fun with her kids.

The girls were singing Justin Bieber's Baby and the boys were back up dancers. What a show they put on.

For lunch they decided to have it picnic style and eat on the floor

and of course pool time.

A couple weeks ago we had some other friends from town over.

Our first play date of the summer was with a few friends and families of kiddos in Maddox's class. Parker and Addison seem to be names we hear around here a lot so we invited their families out for a day of fun.

And how is it possible that we've made it through half the summer without having our best friends out? Beth and I typically get together once a week but with the summer months we've been busy busy. So we finally got together today.

Blast Ball

Lincoln has grown up being dragged along to his siblings sporting events. He hasn't ever made it easy. He's always wanted to play and never understood why he couldn't. I would end up keeping him out of the way and chasing him the entire time. I would always watch those other parents whose kids were older and think... I can't wait until that day.

We finally made it and Lincoln was thrilled to be getting to play his own game. All day he would say... "is it time for my game yet?"
In Blast ball there are about 5 kids on each team. One kid hits the ball off of a T and runs to first base. The fielder chases the ball and when they get it they yell "Blast Ball" That's it. No more bases other then 1st and not much competition. But it was so exciting to Lincoln!

He had a smile a mile wide the entire time!

He could hardly handle the excitement after the game and was asking when he could play again.

I can't wait to watch this little one grow up and enjoy more sports. I will say that it was nice to watch as the other parents chased their little ones around and my 2 older ones were just busy talking to friends. But I will admit that I am a little sad that my kids are growing up so fast.

Maci's Garden

I posted earlier this year about Maci's desire to plant some flowers. Her grandma helped her plant them around the flag pole. I was so excited to see the beautiful flowers growing.

I think I'll let her take care of all the gardens from now on.

Homemade Ice Cream

Summer time brings on my craving of home-made ice cream. Nothing like it. Thank goodness I have a little one that loves to make it as much as I love to eat it. It was the hottest day of the summer so far and just walking outside made sweat roll down your back. I'm so glad this little guy wanted to sit and add the ice and salt for me. It turned out WONDERFUL!

One of my favorite holidays!

I love how it brings the patriotism out of others. I love people appreciating the soldiers.

I love the family get togethers. I love the food.

I love the red, white and blue colors. I love the smells and sounds of fireworks.

I even love seeing the big bellied, shirtless men at the fireworks stand plopping down hundreds of dollars for their loot!

The 4th is a special time of year for me.



I will admit, when I was teaching, I didn't like it so much... it meant summer was half way over, but for now, while I'm home... I love it all!


We used to have a fireworks stand with Eric's family. Then we all started having kids and decided to take some time off. We've never got it back together.

We still have fireworks that we shoot off every year from the last year the stand was open. That was 2001! But they still work perfectly!

We celebrated by laying low at home for the long weekend. I tried to convince Eric we needed to drive to Mt. Rushmore or fly to Galveston, TX with my parents and cousins. But we ended up staying here.

We played a lot, snacked a lot, enjoyed the family

dressed in our red, white and blue (even our nails)

and enjoyed it together. Late nights, hot days, and I wouldn't want it any other way!

4th of July Music at the Park

We had a great time again this year listening to the patriotic music at the park. Both of the grandparents came out to enjoy it with us, we took a walk to get some ice cream, and someone even fell asleep on the picnic blanket listening to the music. However you'll have to take my word for it because my camera died and I only got the one picture above!
