Old Friends

One of my dear friends was in town this weekend and I had the best time being with her and her family. Holly and I were best friends all thru our school years. After she got married she moved to the West Coast, and distance has separated us. We've done well keeping in touch by email but I was thrilled to catch up with her and her family in person.

The boys loved good old "grandpa" Fred as they took to calling him. Fred was always one to make me laugh growing up and he kept the kids going just as well.

And these 2 became fast friends...

Thanks for stopping by Groshongs! I loved seeing you all!

Parade

Maddox's first trip in a convertable will be unforgetable for him
How many kids get to ride on the back of a car and have everyone "like you" as he put it.

For Maddox and Sawyer this Homecoming week is turning out pretty cool!

Jog A Thon

Each year the kids school has a fund raiser in the form of a jog-a-thon. I love going and watching and cheering the kids on. I love to watch them interact with their classmates.

My little clone running, and acting just like her momma. Talking to Kassidy the whole way!

Maci ran 6 laps. 5 laps is a mile! Way to go Maci!

Lincoln and Trenton loved the Cardinal. Hugs all around!!

Maddox was more intense and on a mission. There was no talking during his run.

He ran 7 laps- Way to go Maddog!

Master Bedroom update

I'm 30+ years old, I have been married for 12 years, and I finally got a big kid bedroom!!!
We decided a few months back to get a new mattress, and while we were mattress shopping we ended up purchasing a new bed too. After all these years I finally had a matching bedroom set!

Our bedroom has needed a make over for quite some time now. We had a chocolate scheme going, but it didn't seem to fit with the black furniture.

No real bedspread to speak of. Just some nice warm cozy covers!

And a lovely elliptical machine

So I finally decided what I wanted and went about finding the pieces.

I had a hard time finding the color of pillows I wanted. I wanted a charcoal grey. I actually found some pillows that would work... but I wasn't about to spend the $$ they cost. $34 a pillow seemed a little crazy to me. So I dug out my sewing machine and went to work. Didn't know I could sew did you? Well... I can't. It was my first attempt.

and luckily my mom and dad came to help. After spending a day with me and my mother in law painting our room, they helped me stuff these "first timers" pillows. (Can you believe I got my dad to stuff pillows?)

The final product- didn't turn out too bad- and since I only spent $9, I was thrilled!

And the final product...

(unfortunately the elliptical is still in here... Eric thinks it's what I used for inspiration with the color pallet :)- hopefully it will find a new home in our house soon. I'm thinking an exercise room?!?!)

Can't you see a comfy chair there where the elliptical currently is? Grey and white with silver accents? Yes, I've already found it... I just need to head back to work so I can buy it :)

Flag Football

I don't know that there is anything I would rather do then watching my kiddo's have fun.
Maddox has been playing flag football for the last month and he's loving it.
The first 2 games happened to be against my home town- so it was extra fun to watch my friends kids play as well.

Maci enjoyed getting to "babysit" Violet during the game

Maddox and Calvin Dwyer after the game- no winners or losers- just good fun!

Linc's Style

Every morning while the kids wait for the bus Eric will head out and play some sort of ball with them. Maci usually pics volleyball and Maddox typically picks football. Lincoln loves to go out and wait with them.
On this particular morning it was a little chilly so I told him he needed to get dressed first.

When I walked out after getting the breakfast dishes put away this is what I found.

Rain boots, Maddox's winter coat and his winter hat. And nothing under! Oh this boy!!!

Brothers

My boys fight like all brothers... so when I heard them actually having fun together the other day, it made this momma's heart swell with pride. I had to capture the moment in pictures so I can pull them up when they are having one of thier days ;)
